(CLOSED) UGC Fellowships Scheme for MPA students [local students only]
Background
The main objectives of the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme are to attract more meritorious local students to pursue further studies in priority areas conducive to the development of Hong Kong, and to encourage universities to establish more innovative and multi-disciplinary programmes that are beneficial to society. Master of Public Administration is selected by the University Grants Council for the 2022/23 scheme as the programme is considered to be in the priority area of Sustainable City which is of strategic importance to Hong Kong.
Three fellowships are allocated to the programme. Students offered the fellowships will each receive an award of HK$120,000 to help offset the programme fee, and will only need to pay the remaining fee of HK$42,100
Eligibility*
Local applicants who are admitted to MPA (full/part-time mode).
To avoid “double benefit”, students awarded with other government scholarships including the Continuing Education Fund (except student financial assistance) for pursuing the MPA are not eligible to apply.
*Applicants would be considered as a non-local student if he/she is a holder of the following documents issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR:
- Student visa/entry permit; or
- Visa/entry permit under the Immigration Arrangement for Non-local Graduates; or
- Dependant visa/entry permit who were 18 years old or above when he/she was issued with such visa/entry permit by the Director of Immigration.
Selection Criteria
The award of the fellowships will be based on merits taking into account the students’ academic achievements, professional qualifications, relevant working experience and achievements in other areas as well as the proposals submitted by the students with special attention to their personal statements on how they can contribute to the priority areas of Hong Kong after completing the programme.
